Police appeal for witnesses after fatal collision in Mitcham

Met Police detectives investigating a fatal collision in Mitcham are appealing for witnesses.

Police were called at 4:33pm yesterday to reports of a collision involving a car and motorcycle at the junction of Mitcham Lane and Aldrington Road, SW16.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and the 28-year-old male motorcyclist was found with serious injuries.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the car left the scene before officers arrived but then returned to the scene and he is helping police with their enquiries.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit have launched an investigation and are appealing for anyone who witnesses the collision, or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them on 020 8543 5157.
