Following the death of a man in Croydon, the Met police has launched a murder investigation.
At 04:52 am on Thursday, 9 July, police were called to Livingstone Road in Thornton Heath following reports of an assault.
Assisted by members of the public, police officers attended the scene after reports of an altercation between several men. This is believed to be connected to an incident in Prince Road that occurred shortly beforehand.
Later, a man in his 20s presented himself at a local hospital with injuries suggesting he had been stabbed. Despite all efforts, he later died from his injuries. He has been confirmed to have been involved in the Prince Road altercation.
“At this stage, we believe this to be an isolated incident however, local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days,” said Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley.
Three men, aged 28, 38, and 44, have been arrested on suspicion of murder, and are in police custody.
DCI Jolley said: ”Our thoughts are first and foremost with the victim’s family and loved ones at this extremely difficult time.”
