A Battersea-based startup has been shortlisted for the Agentic AI Pioneers Prize after creating a tool to prevent misuse of digital film assets.
The award is backed by the UK’s national innovation agency, Innovate UK, and recognises cutting-edge artificial intelligence across sectors including healthcare, advanced manufacturing and the creative industries.
Out of 300 applications, the south-London based Volustor was shortlisted for its AI system that creates unique “spatial fingerprints” of 3D scans, helping track and prevent unauthorized reuse of digital content.
Callum Reid, CEO at Volustor, said: “Being named a finalist in the Agentic AI Pioneers Prize is a significant milestone for us.
“The industry is producing more and more high-quality scan data, but without the right tools, much of that value is lost, or worse, used in ways that creators haven’t agreed to.”
Volustor’s Agentic 3D-Grounded Provenance Verification System protects digital film assets such as props, sets, and actors’ digital scans, helping to prevent misuse in the age of AI by verifying where digital content comes from and flagging if it has been used without permission.
As AI image generation tools advance rapidly, content creators and performers increasingly feel that their rights and livelihoods are under threat.
Equity, a union representing UK performers, threatened direct action last October following an influx of complaints from performers over tech and entertainment companies’ use of performer’s likenesses, images and voices in AI content without permission.
Equity held a ballot in late 2025 which found that 99% of actors who voted said they would refuse to be digitally scanned without stronger protections around AI use.
The union represents over 50,000 performers across the UK, and has supported performers in copyright and personal data infringements, such as supporting an unnamed Scottish actor who believes that her likeness was used in the controversial creation of Tilly Norwood, an AI actor/performer.
Volustor’s recognition highlights how AI can work alongside the creative industries, supporting rather than replacing the people behind them.
