A community garden with a long history of serving diverse communities acts as a key social space for latin-american Londoners looking to reconnect with their culture.
Just a 10 minute walk away from Kings Cross Station, Calthorpe Community Garden has been serving its local community since the 1980s.
With weekly classes that range from Tai Chi to Arts and crafts, as well as a community lunch the charity acts as the perfect meeting place for a group of older Latin American ladies looking to speak spanish and reconnect with their culture.
The garden has a long history of facilitating diverse communities, with historic allotments reserved for Bangladeshi women.
Charity trustee, Dr Rebecca Farnum said: “Increasingly there are not as many access points to free activities, to social spaces and relationship building and that’s what we make happen here at the Garden.”
