New Malden mother admits killing her three disabled children

By SWLondoner staff

A mother has admitted killing her three children at their home in New Malden in April this year.

Tania Clarence, 42, wept in the dock as she pleaded guilty to manslaughter of her daughter, aged four, and her three-year-old twin sons, on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

With her solicitor’s arm around her waist for support, she denied murdering the children, all of whom had type 2 spinal muscular atrophy.

Her husband Gary, who was watching the proceedings, was in South Africa visiting relatives when the children were found dead at their home on April 22.

Ms Clarence was remanded to a secure mental hospital, with a provisional trial date being set for February 23 next year.
