Malden Robins celebrate Surrey Slam win

WATCH: The Malden Robins reflect on Surrey Slam win

The Malden Robins are the women’s team of Malden Wanderers Cricket Club in New Malden, part of Merton.

They epitomise women’s sport in this country as their numbers are constantly growing and there has been plenty of improvement on the field.

This improvement was rewarded last season when they won the Surrey Slam, a county competition, in dramatic fashion.

This season is the third since they were founded and the side have high hopes heading into this season when they will be in two elite competitions as a result of their Slam success.

The final against Ashford went to a Super Over after both teams scored 97 in their 20 overs. The teams were still tied after that, and the Robins ended up winning on a boundary countback – a la England Men’s 2019 World Cup success.
