The UK is one of the most age-segregated countries in the world and this disparity has only increased since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Campaign to End Loneliness reports the number of people in Great Britain experiencing chronic loneliness rose significantly between 2020 and 2022.
The Together Project started after founder Louise’s experience of taking her son along to visit family in a care home, and realising the impact this could have on combatting loneliness.
From there the idea grew, and the programme went from one session in Walthamstow to now being found not only all across London but also nationally.
The groups brings together care home residents and new parents and their young children for a session of music, singing and bubbles.
One Songs and Smiles group is located in Whitton and they run a session at White Farm Lodge Care Home 10:30-11:30am on Wednesdays, which can be seen in the video.
