WATCH: London-based events series encourages strangers to come alone and leave as friends to combat loneliness

Strangers in the City (SITC) is an activity-based events series where young Londoners are encouraged to come alone to leave with new connections.

Through their social first events such as disorganised fun, the founders aim to tackle the loneliness of 16-29 year-olds, which according to ONS data, they are more likely to face.

Co-founder Chanté Joseph said: “You can be around people but you don’t necessarily feel seen by them and I think that’s the most isolating aspect.

“So we need more spaces to connect with people to see us for who we are.”

Other events include candle-making, theatre going and resin-art to bring people together by trying new things.
