Pair killed in Croydon Boxing Day car crash

A man and a teenage girl were killed in a car collision in Croydon on Boxing Day.

Police were called to Purley Way, Croydon shortly before 3pm yesterday following reports of a collision between a Renault Mégane and a Kia Cee’d.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found the critically injured 53-year-old man and 15-year-old girl, both of whom had been travelling in the Renault.

They were pronounced dead at the scene a short while later.

The man and the girl are believed to be related – now officers are in the process of informing next of kin and await formal identification and a post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

The diver of the Kia stopped at the scene, he was not injured and has not been arrested.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information that may assist the investigation should call police on 101.
