WATCH: Battersea Spanish – A cross-cultural community hub on the Doddington and Rollo Estate

According to the Cervantes Institute report for 2025, almost five hundred million people have Spanish as their mother tongue.

A further one hundred million people are proficiently fluent in Spanish creating community and connection.

On an unassuming social housing estate in Battersea in South West London, lies a cross cultural hub.

Battersea Spanish is one of a collection of arts and culture centres situated in the middle of Doddington and Rollo estate.

At its heart, the space is a language school, bringing together those from the Hispanic diaspora, Hispanophones and Hispanofans.

The centre functions as a cafe, bar, dance studio, language school and social hub. It offers a wide range of courses for a variety of levels, creating a unique sense of community.
