The London LGBTQ+ Community Centre wants to stay open

The London LGBTQ+ Community Centre is a safe space and café for queer people, committed to becoming a landmark in London.

Located in the Bankside area of Southwark, the London LGBTQ+ Community Centre opened its doors in December 2021 and was due to close in May 2022, but thanks to the great support it received from the community, local residents and Southwark Council, the lease was extended until July.

Services and events offered by the centre include sexual health testing, mental health support, a weekly NA meeting, as well as yoga classes, craft workshops, meditation sessions, and film and book clubs.

The team running the centre hope that, as an intersectional space that welcomes queer people of all ages and backgrounds, they will be able to become a permanent space for the LGBTQ+ community.

Reporter Alessandra Vescio went to find out more about the centre’s fight to remain open – see the full video below.
