Tesco added a pop up shop at London Southend Airport to help travellers restock their kitchens after they return from holiday.
The groceries retailer partnered with EasyJet Holidays to open up the “Back From Holiday Shop” in the baggage hall of the Essex international airport with the intention of helping travellers ease their worries of coming back to a lowly-stocked kitchen after time away.
Passengers on select flights from France, Spain, Malta and Portugal had the opportunity to pick up complimentary bags of essentials from Tesco including tea, bread, milk, fruits, vegetables, liquid laundry detergent, body lotion and more on 29 July.
In early July, Censuswide conducted a survey with over 2,000 participants and discovered that 25% of British holiday travellers find returning home to an empty fridge is “one of the most frustrating parts of returning from holiday,” said Tesco.
In addition to this, 70% of Brits surveyed want healthier products available after returning from holiday, having most likely indulged and enjoying themselves. Censuswide found strawberries, cucumbers, carrot sticks and other fresh produce as top choices for easing back into healthier eating.
Tesco will also be offering 10 vouchers worth £250 to their customers on Instagram in their partnership with EasyJet. Rather than getting a pre-selected package, customers can select what best fits their home after they return from holiday.
EasyJet will be gifting one customer a £1,500 free holiday as part of their campaign with Tesco. With over 100 destinations from London Southend Airport across the continent and Northern Africa, the airline company will be introducing new flights from the London airport to Lyon, France in December of 2026 and Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt in January of 2027.
The airport is situated about 36 miles from the centre of London in Essex.
