Demi Adejuyigbe returns to Soho Theatre in line for Edinburgh Fringe

American writer and comedian Demi Adejuyigbe returned to London this summer, bringing his signature high-energy humour back to the heart of Soho.

The parody artist has now brought his latest show, Demi Sells Out, on a preview run in Soho Theatre, which ran from 15 to 20 June.

The show will be brought to the Edinburgh Fringe later this summer, where audiences can watch Adejuyigbe, guitar in hand, doing what he does best: musical comedy, crowdwork, and fast-paced, off-the-wall one-liners, all in the desperate attempt to sell out.

Adejuyigbe has returned to Soho Theatre just over a year after his acclaimed run of Demi Adejuyigbe Does One (1) Back Flip.

The comic and musician is best known as a former co-host of the Gilmore Guys podcast, a writer and producer on The Good Place, Neon and Strange Planet and for his appearances on the comedy streaming platform Dropout.

On the difference in developing this year’s show, Adejuyigbe said: “My last show was developed with directors that were there every step of the way and had seen my bits well before the show was developed.

“And this time was different because I did it all on my own and made the show in a much shorter time frame.

“All of it was written with a show in mind, as opposed to the previous show, which was cobbled together from a collection of short segments I had done on other people’s shows.”

The Dropout star was one of the breakout comedy successes at the Fringe 2024, earning rave reviews and a nomination for the Best Newcomer prize at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards.

Widely acclaimed as the world’s largest arts festival, Edinburgh Fringe transforms the Scottish capital every August with thousands of comedy, theatre, music and performance shows from artists across the globe.

The Guardian described his previous show as “a show of ticklish suspense that somersaults with invention and surprise”.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe will be held this summer from 7 to 31 August, with many of its acts presented at Soho Theatre beforehand.
