Thousands of fathers took part in a UK-wide march to call for better paternity leave.
On 2 May, a sea of prams took to the streets in London, Nottingham, Manchester and Leeds as the ‘Push for Paternity Leave’ walks began.
The UK has the worst statutory paternity leave in Europe – affording fathers just £388 for two weeks of leave.
This is less than half the UK’s minimum wage, according to campaign group The Dad Shift.
Pram protest co-organiser, Elliott Rae, called UK paternity leave “ridiculous”.

Rae’s own organisation, Parenting Out Loud, also organised the UK’s first ‘Equal Parenting Week’ from 27 April to 3 May to champion an equitable approach to parenting.
Fellow co-organiser, Joeli Brearley, said: “We don’t give parents a proper parental leave system that respects the fact they are new parents.”
The Government is set to conclude an 18-month review of UK parental leave and pay in early 2027.
This comes as deaths overtake births in 2026 for one of the first times in UK history – campaigners argue improved parental leave is partly to blame.
