Dame Evelyn Glennie has extended an invitation to listen through her curated exhibition – Listen Up! displayed in the entry hall of the City Lit building.
It displays a select few unique pieces and instruments part of the Evelyn Glennie collection, which ask the public to not only hear but listen, through feeling and experiencing the sounds and vibrations the distinctive instruments provide.
Dame Evelyn is an award-winning musician, renowned for her curated music compositions using mostly percussion to create a soundscape which opens the listener to feel the music and the sound, now reflected throughout the exhibit.
The approach taken within the residence is more than an observing experience but one which offers “different ways to experience listening — as exhibition, as practice, and as shared exploration.”
City Lit is a prominent education facility which provides enriched courses for all ages, aiding with deaf education and disability learning through creative teaching in subjects including arts, humanities, business, culture, and history.
The residency is from 7-18 May.
