Emeli Sandé stuns Putney concertgoers at charity carol service with surprise performance – video

Emeli Sandé shocked a packed-out Putney church last night when she performed a song at a charity carol concert.

The Next to Me singer arrived at Holy Trinity Church during the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability’s carol concert interval where a crowd of excited children mobbed the star for autographs and pictures.

Sporting a black and white mohair jumper, black maxi skirt and her trademark peroxide quiff she sang a stunning acapella version of Silent Night to the mesmerised audience.

She said: “I used to study medicine and one area that I looked into was neurological sciences –I found music therapy so inspiring.

“About 18 months ago I visited the hospital and I had such an amazing time and was touched by that.”

After her performance she dashed off to perform at Roundhouse with Professor Green

Concertgoers were also treated to Michael Ball’s rousing rendition of O Holy Night accompanied by The London Chorus.

The hospital hopes to raise £10,000 for additional music therapy treatment from the event.
