Non-League Preview: Gomis set for another Sutton United debut and Ryman teams begin FA Cup run

Sutton United could hand midfielder Bedsente Gomis a second debut in today’s clash with high-flying Gosport Borough at Gander Green Lane.

Last season’s supporters’ club player of the year rejoined the Us after a brief spell in France, and could line-up next to former Arsenal midfielder Craig Eastmond, who has joined from Yeovil Town.

United are coming off a 2-2 draw with Concord Rangers, which leaves Paul Doswell’s side 12th in the table, and they face a tough task against third-placed Gosport, who are unbeaten so far.

In the FA Cup first qualifying round, Hampton & Richmond Borough will aim to bounce back from their disappointing Ryman Premier League defeat to Lewes in mid-week by beating Dulwich Hamlet in a London derby.

The home side have not won in three games and Wednesday’s 4-0 loss saw defender Joe Hicks sent off, while they were still without the injured trio of Tom Jelley, Kieran Murphy and Dean Sinclair.

In-form Kingstonian also have a home tie as they welcome Farnborough.

Tommy Williams’ men have won their last three games, scoring 13 goals, while their opponents sit second bottom and have played just four times in the league.

Striker Ricky Sappleton staked a strong claim for a recall with a match-winning performance against VCD Athletic in mid-week, where he scored his first two goals of the season in a 3-0 win after coming off the bench.

Metropolitan Police will hope to change their fortunes at home as they host lower-league opposition in Sittingbourne, who sit fifth in the Division One South table.

The Met have lost four of their five home games so far this season and are 17th in the table.

Tooting & Mitcham United are heavy favourites to beat Combined Counties Premier Division side Farnham Town.

The Terrors enter the game in good form having won three of their last four games, and both of their previous two at Imperial Fields.

Carshalton Athletic will also have the opportunity to qualify for the next round when they travel to Sussex County League side Pagham, and two days later they are back in league action against Walton & Hersham at The Sports Ground.

Hersham have lost their three games, and on Wednesday they suffered a 1-0 derby defeat to Walton Casuals.

The Casuals are not in action this weekend after losing to Whitstable round in the preliminary round.

In the Combined Counties Premier League, sixth-placed Colliers Wood United travel to play AFC Hayes hoping to bounce back from Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat to Epsom & Ewell.

Sutton Common Rovers are looking for their first win of the season and will host Badshot Lea, while Raynes Park Vale travel to Horley Town.
