‘We’ve just got to crack on’: Fulham’s Luke Garbutt looks to bounce back with big result against Bristol

Fulham defender Luke Garbutt looks to bounce back from defeat against Burnley with a crucial victory against Bristol City today.

It’s a big match for both teams who are level on 37 points — just two safe from the relegation zone.

The Robins arrive at Craven Cottage below the Whites on goal difference and a victory for either side could prove vital come the end of the season.

Garbutt, currently on loan from Everton, said: “It’s an absolutely massive game on Saturday and we’ve just got to crack on basically.

“We’ve got to focus on what’s in front of us, and that’s Bristol City.

“It’s a massive one and I’m sure the fans will get behind us.”

When the two sides met earlier in the season at Ashton Gate, Fulham came out 4-1 winners.

Garbutt emphasised the importance of the Fulham fans ahead of this crucial match.

He added: “The lads and the fans need to stick together and hopefully we can push on and get a big result on Saturday.”

Slavisa Jokanovic’s side have not won in four matches and have only won eight Championship games this season.

Meanwhile, Bristol City manager Lee Johnson steered his side out of the relegation zone since he took over in February.

Johnson watched his side beat Charlton Athletic on the day he was appointed, before managing the team to victory against Ipswich, MK Dons and Nottingham Forest.

After Fulham’s enthralling narrow defeat to league leaders Burnley on Tuesday night, Garbutt insists the Whites must approach the game with a positive attitude.

Garbutt said: “You’ve got to go in with an attitude of, we’re not going to lose the game, we’re going to be on top and win it.

“It’s as simple as that. If you go in with a mentality of looking for a draw or thinking you’re going to coast it, you’re not going to win games in this league.”
