Person dies at East Acton station

A person has died after being struck by a train at an underground station in Acton on New Year’s Day.

Police were called to East Acton tube station, in Ecronwald Street, at around 8.30am on January 1.

Commuters at stations in Hammersmith and surrounding were told to find alternative routes after announcements were made that a police investigation was ongoing.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: “We were called to East Acton underground station at around 8.30am yesterday.

“A person was found to have been struck by a train. Officers and ambulance attended and sadly the person was found to have died at the scene.

“The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and enquiries are being made to identify the person and inform their next of kin.”
