One final fundraising push for Royal Navy charity trio before England against Scotland at Twickenham

After nine years of fundraising, Doing It For Heroes finally hope to hit their finish line outside Twickenham station tomorrow.

Chief Petty Officers Philip White, James Cameron-Wood and Andy Gibbs have raised £495,800 since 2008 through a variety of challenges and activities and need just £4,200 more to hit their £500,000 fundraising target.

After a 180-mile walk between Twickenham and Cardiff last month, the charity group – who are affiliated to Help for Heroes – are aiming to get as close to the target as possible during tomorrow’s Six Nations match between England and Scotland.

During the nine years they have collected money outside 42 football grounds, 24 rugby matches, 174 pubs and have walked 1,212 miles. – and if they do fall short tomorrow, then they have another fundraising event in Wealdstone the next week.

“We started the fundraising in Wealdstone, and depending on how tomorrow’s fundraising goes in Twickenham, we could end up finishing back where we began,” said Andy.

This weekend’s fundraising in Twickenham won’t be the first time the Royal Navy trio has used the home of England rugby to raise money for their cause.

Just last month, they walked the 120-mile stretch from Twickenham to Cardiff, in which they managed to raise £4,900.

There will be five volunteers collecting outside the station’s car park exit from 11:15am to 4pm or you can donate online at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/DIFH
