Best things to do in Wandsworth this summer

If you’re looking for some inspiration for a summer spent in Wandsworth, look no further. Between long scenic walks and urban theme parks, you can spend every weekend this summer busy with local fun.

Attend the Wandsworth Heritage Festival.

This annual festival celebrates the borough’s rich history through workshops, talks and celebrations with local experts.

This year it will take place from Friday June 13 to Sunday July 13.

Deputy leader of Wandsworth Council Kemi Akinola said: “The festival comes together each year thanks to the local groups who help preserve and celebrate Wandsworth’s history.”

During the festival there’s a lot to do, such as the ‘Before We Were Proud’ free art exhibition that runs from Friday June 6 to Sunday July 13.

This exhibition in particular documents many personal stories of older LGBTQ+ community members through photography.

Unleash your inner child in Gravity Max.

Between bowling, mini golf, darts, an arcade and go-karting, a trip to Gravity Max is one brimming with excitement.

Gillian on TripAdvisor said: “Massively varied activities on offer makes for a fun night out”.

All of the activities are relatively affordable too, with bowling being £8.95 per person and go-karting being £11.95.

Wander around the exquisite Battersea Park.

Just because it’s London doesn’t mean there is no greenery.

Battersea Park is a beautiful 200-acre park, so needless to say it’s the perfect place for a long walk!

There’s so much to do here as one person on TripAdvisor said: “There are several outdoor sports facilities as well as a children’s zoo, a lake, and a bandstand.”

On top of these facilities there’s many events held in the park with the Battersea Dog show taking place on Saturday July 12.

Catch a show at Theatre503

This theatre is a brilliant alternative to the West End. It has a small capacity of 64, making the experience much more intimate and unique.

Despite it being quaint there’s still many amazing shows to watch here. Such as ‘Centre of the Universe‘ written by Gaia Mondadori showing through July 10-12 with a run time of approximately an hour.
