A man has been arrested after a triple stabbing in Brixton which left one woman dead and two others injured.

Police were called to Redlands Way at 18:41 where a 46-year-old woman was found with a number of injuries. She is said to be in critical condition.

They later found a 29-year-old woman dead and a 17-year-old with stab wounds at Tilson Gardens, Streatham.

A 40-year-old man was arrested on a bus in Leigham Court Road following a manhunt by the MPS.

“Our investigation is at a very early stage, however we are confident that there are no outstanding suspects,” said DI Will Reynolds, the Investigating Officer, from the Met’s Homicide and Serious Crime Command.

“We believe that all three victims were known to the man who is currently in our custody, there is no suggestion that the victims were selected at random.”

Part of the ongoing investigation will be to find out what the man’s motivation was for the attacks he is believed to have carried out.

Chief Superintendent Matt Bell, Borough Commander for Lambeth, said:
“We are working with the local community to ensure that they are updated with the information that we can share with them. Local officers are out on patrol in the Borough and if local people are feeling concerned please come and talk to us.”
