Clapham Junction played host to an unusual culinary offering earlier this month.

Passers by were treated to a feast of a much loved British staple – toast – in a collaboration by the Brick Box, the Urban Projects Bureau and the Bureau of Silly Ideas.

To help publicise the Wandsworth Arts Festival, a travelling shrine to toast was created, in order to spark a dialogue with people about how art is perceived.

Brick box founder, Rosie Freeman, said: “Everyone has very specific preferences about how they like their toast – spreads, grade of toastiness, when they eat it – so this gets people talking about their likes and dislikes.

“And it’s appealing because you get some free toast!”

The temple is travelling around West London as part of the festival throughout May, stopping at different locations in the city.
