The sign outside Oxfam Putney

WATCH: Oxfam Putney step into digital age with social media pages to promote charity shop

Oxfam Putney have embraced the growth of social media and have begun creating content on their own pages to promote the store and attract new volunteers.

Their Instagram page currently has more than 5,000 followers, with their first post being uploaded in October, and on TikTok, their most popular video currently sits at 1.2 million views.

The store’s volunteers work together to create comedy content about working at Oxfam, and about thrifting and sustainable fashion.

Manager Lucy said: “Since being on social media, we’ve noticed that lots of customers have mentioned to us that they love seeing our accounts, love our stories.

“Customers have said they’re obsessed with our TikTok pages, and can’t wait for the next one.

“We’ve seen much more volunteer applications come through, and we’ve got some new members in the team that have come directly through that channel.”
