Community hoping to see funds for Hammersmith Bridge reopening

Hammersmith residents are hopeful funding will go towards reopening Hammersmith Bridge, which closed in August 2020 to cyclists and pedestrians.

Vehicles were stopped from crossing in April 2019, around 22,000 vehicles and 16,000 pedestrians and cyclists used the bridge daily.

The third TfL Covid-19 bail-out is expected to be announced today, which reports say could reveal details about funding to reopen the bridge.

SWL spoke to Michelle Coulter from the Hammersmith Bridge Steering Group, a pressure group of local residents campaigning for a resolution to the bridge closure and its reopening, to find out how it continues to impact the community.
