Stars in their pies! Hollywood actor James Franco stuns theatregoers at Sweeney Todd show in Tooting pie shop

Hollywood actor James Franco stunned theatregoers at a Tooting pie ‘n’ mash shop when he dropped in to watch a production of Sweeney Todd last week.

The Oscar-nominated star attended Tooting Arts Club’s production of the hit show on Friday night which has been running at the century-old working shop since October.

He shocked audience and cast members alike as he arrived at the intimate show at Harrington’s of Selkirk Road, which seats just 35 people.

The 127 Hours actor enjoyed the performance, and told South West Londoner as he left the venue: “It was great.”

He also urged his Instagram, Twitter and Facebook followers to go and watch the production, which he described as ‘one of the best shows I’ve ever seen’.

His comments about the performance have been liked, retweeted or favourited more than 44,000 times.

Cast members of the show, which finishes its run on Saturday, were surprised and delighted to perform in front of such a big name.

Franco was in London promoting his new book Actors Anonymous, a dark exploration into the celebrity world.
He spent the day signing books for his adoring fans in Piccadilly before escaping the crowds for the evening in Tooting.
