A man who brutally attacked a taxi driver in an unprovoked attack on Battersea Park Road was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment this week.

Jake Skipper, 26, attacked the victim outside the Lost Angel Pub last November, knocking him to the ground. He sustained bruising to the brain and a fracture to the skull.

Ten minutes earlier, Skipper had argued with the victim, whose brother died in a similar attack, before leaving the scene after staff from the pub intervened.

During the assault, members of the pub were also attacked, one of whom suffered an injury.

Detective Sergeant Macnamara praised those who helped police with the investigation.

“This horrific attack has had a devastating impact on the victim,” he said

“Two of the witnesses who came forward showed extreme courage. Their brother was murdered in an attack, which bore striking resemblance to this attack.

“However they were determined to assist police despite bringing back painful memories.”

Skipper, who admitted grevious bodily harm at Kingston Crown Court on March 20, was also ordered to pay £3,000.
