Teenager arrested on suspicion of murder as Richmond stabbing victim named

A teenager was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder as police named the victim of a late night stabbing in Richmond.

An 18-year-old man is in police custody after the murder of 31-year-old Twickenham resident Mirko Naramcic, which is believed to have occurred on Thursday 17 March in Richmond.

Four others, two women aged 17 and 52 and two men aged 19 and 20 years were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but have since been released on bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Grogan, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have made significant progress with our investigation but we believe there are other witnesses to the incident who have still not spoken to us.

“I would urge anyone who has any information, no matter how small, to contact my team or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.

“Mirko’s family are understandably heartbroken at their loss and we are using all of the resources at our disposal to get them the answers they need.”

Police were called at around 11:20pm to Maguire Drive but found no victims at the scene.

Shortly afterwards three men, including Mirko, attended hospital having sustained what are believed to be stab injuries.

A post mortem conducted at Kingston Mortuary on Saturday 19 March confirmed the victim died of a stab wound to the chest. 

His next of kin have been informed.
