WATCH: The visual artist tackling London’s knife crime crisis

A visual artist has created an immersive exhibition to shed light on the impact of knife crime on local communities.

British artist Eugene Ankomah has produced the ‘Re-claim: The Runway (Rest and Recuperation)’ exhibition along with children who use The Salmon Youth Centre in Bermondsey.

The exhibition is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The exhibition starts with an incident trail that leads to the funeral procession in the main exhibition space.

This features photos of real knife crime victims included amongst some of the artwork produced by the local kids.

Ankomah said: “Change has to come from the community themselves. This is why we created this exhibition to create conversations, to create dialogs and create conversations.”

The artist plans to tour the exhibition across different spaces in London, including schools.
