Solar eclipse 2015: Fifty Shades of Grey (cloud) effect rumbles on as Londoners’ view obscured

Would-be London astronomers are ‘gutted’ by thick cloud cover which is blocking the solar eclipse.

As people across the world gaze up at the skies to witness the rare celestial event south west Londoners have been scuppered by the weather.

The Met Office predicted cloud yesterday but today’s regional forecast confirmed that it would be a dry day but with a ‘good deal of cloud at first’.

Kes Rowlands tweeted: So gutted London is cloudy! Got up so early! Need to see this eclipse!!! #SolarEclipse

Tom Odell guitarist Max Goff tweeted his excitement at spotting the phenomenon, and posted a cheeky picture of what he could see. Well excited for the Solar Eclipse from London #nofilter
