Man arrested on suspicion of murder after woman found strangled to death in Putney home

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in her Putney home.

Anna Maria Thomas, 61, was found dead on Tuesday December 10 after London Ambulance Service were called to her flat in Windlesham Grove.

Police launched a murder investigation on Saturday and a 33-year-old man was arrested. He has since been sectioned under the mental health act.

A post mortem examination at St Georges Hospital Mortuary on Thursday gave the cause of death as compression of the neck.

Those that knew Anna Maria Thomas are asked to contact officers to assist the investigation.
