Furzedown Saturday Soccer School: Furzedown Recreation Centre

£30 for the 10-week course

There are two sessions on offer: 10.00-11.00am for children aged 6-9 years and 11.00-12.00pm for those aged 10-12 years.

Bird Walk on Tooting Common

16 October, 8.30am-12.30pm

Come and enjoy this autumnal walk with bird recorder Peter White. Find out about the wide variety of species of bird that visit and use Tooting Common, and how to recognise them by sight and sound. Participants are advised to wear sensible clothing and to bring their own binoculars. The organisers request that individuals must not bring young children or dogs.

Participants should meet at the Council Yard, Dr Johnson Avenue opposite Hillbury Road SW17.

Traditional African Headwrap Workshop: Battersea Library

19 October, 6.30pm-8.00pm

Come along and learn about traditional African headwraps in this practical session which is being run as part of Black History Month 2011. Individuals need to bring protective head covering such as a durag, silk or satin scarf. Headwraps will be provided, but participants are told to bring their own if possible. Traditional headwraps will also be available to buy at the session.

Young Performer of the Year 2011 Auditions: Tooting Hub, Beechcroft Road

20 October, 5.00pm-7.30pm

This competition is looking for young actors, comedians, singers, dancers, beatboxers, and anyone else in between. Entrants must be aged between 14-19 years and live or attend school or a youth club in Wandsworth. Development workshops will follow on from the auditions.
