The second Balham Food Festival is set to build on the success of its first appearance last year when it returns this Sunday.

The two-week long event not only boasts the fantastic variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs, delicatessens and gourmet food retailers in the town centre – it also features activities for children and adults, and musical performances.

Between 12pm and 5pm on Sunday, July 15, more than 25 of Balham’s best food and drink retailers will be hosting stalls on Hildreth Street Market for The Balham Feast – a free Taste of Balham-style event.

Visitors will be able to take part in balloon modelling and street dance workshops as well as see stilt walkers, a magic show and performances from South London Choir and The Balham Ukulele Society.

Kim Sullivan, Balham town centre manager, said: “The festival, which has been organised by Wandsworth Council and the Balham Partnership, was a great success last year and I hope that even more people will pay us a visit this time round.

“There really is something for everyone, with children’s entertainment, musical performances, wine tasting and cookery classes. And let’s not forget of course the delicious food on offer.”

Throughout the rest of the festival, highlights include  Balham’s Big Roast at participating restaurants, wine tasting events at Gazette and The Wine Tasting Shop, children’s cookery classes at Gazette and Dee Light Bakery, a speciality coffee evening at M1Lk, live music at Alter Ega and The Bedford and the Balham Farmers’ Market at Chestnut Grove School.

Selected Balham restaurants will also be running exclusive festival menus and there will be festival offers and promotions.
