World Cup fever hits Clapham Common as pop-up pitches come to South West London

By Felix Henderson

Flexi Football is giving hard-working Londoners a new opportunity to play sport this summer with their “7-Aside Summer Pop Up” pitches.

The company, which has been running for four years, provides flexible football without the hassle of joining a team at sites in Clapham Common and Regent’s Park and will hold the 7-aside event from 14th June – 23rd August.

Ben Hathaway, Director of Flexi Football, believes the new event solves the problem of finding a marked out pitch to play on in the summer months.

“The majority of large football pitches in London have to stop their 11 aside pitches in April or May to make way for the Cricket season,” he said.

“We really wanted to make sure there was still a way to bring accessible football to Londoners, especially around the madness of the World Cup, so that people can have fun, get fit and even meet new people.”

The Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton will host the hour-long games on Saturday’s at 10.30am and 11.30am with FA qualified officials taking charge of matches on the 4G pitches.

Players of all ability are welcome to join but must be aged 16 or over and will be provided with branded bibs before the game, Flexi Football also provides an opposition team if needed.

Pitch Bookings and Payment’s can be made online by visiting www.flexifootball7aside.com.
