Soft Cell’s Marc Almond to perform at Richmond’s Rugby World Cup Fanzone 80s night

Eighties pop legends including Soft Cell’s Marc Almond will be celebrating big hair and neon clothing at a disco night in the Richmond Fanzone next month.

As part of the Big Hullabaloo Festival at the official Rugby World Cup Fanzone, Marc Almond, Heaven 17 and Roland Gift will perform at an eighties classic night at the ‘Hub’ in on October 22.

Almond will be performing a greatest hits set including the record-breaking Tainted Love, Jacky and Something’s Gotten Hold Of My Heart.

Formed by ex-members of Human League, synth gurus Heaven 17 continue to wow global audiences with legendary hits such as Temptation and (We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang.

Completing the bill is Roland Gift who as lead singer Fine Young Cannibals scored a string of classic hits across the late 80s including Good Thing, Suspicious Minds and Johnny Come Home.

Richmond Council Cabinet Member for Arts and Culture, Councillor Meena Bond, said: “Viva la eighties!

“For one night only you can come along and see some of the most popular bands of the eighties – all under one roof.

“And while fancy dress is not compulsory – why not dig deep in the back of your wardrobe and don your old spandex, parachute pants, leg warmers, boofed hair, big earrings and big belts?”
