The release of Wicked: For Good has inspired a city-wide celebration of the film, with fans heading straight from cinemas to the West End show.
From Tube station billboards to shopping centre installations — and even a limited-edition Wicked-themed Greggs in Leicester Square — the capital has been transformed.
The film is the second instalment of director Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of the hit musical, starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
As part of the release, Brick Lane has morphed into a real yellow brick road, featuring large-scale artwork inspired by the Emerald City.
Artist Taya de la Cruz is one of the six creatives commissioned to produce Wicked-inspired pieces in the East End.
Speaking to the Londoners, she said: “This project is a chance to bring the magic of Oz into everyday London life.”
The film release has reignited huge excitement for the stage production, which has been running at the Apollo Victoria Theatre for over 18 years.
