Police hunt would-be kidnappers as woman left ‘traumatised’ by Clapham abduction attempt

Attempted kidnappers are being hunted by Lambeth police after they tried to force a woman into their car as she walked home in the early hours of the morning.

The woman, in her 20s, was walking home on Clapham Common South Side when a hatchback car pulled up beside her at the junction with Elms Road on August 30 at around 4am.

A man tried to pull the victim into the car but she managed to fight him off, sustaining minor injuries in the struggle.

He got back into the car, which also contained three other men, and left the scene heading towards Balham.

Detective Inspector Damon Williams from Lambeth CID said: “The victim has been left traumatised by the events of that day. The incident happened in the early hours of the morning but there would have been other vehicles in the vicinity as this is a busy area.

“Enquires continue to identify the vehicle and occupants and anyone with information no matter how small is asked to contact us. Any information will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”

The men are all described as Asian, the main assailant is of slim build and in his late 20s.

Anyone with information should contact Lambeth CID on 02086492189 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
