By Michael Hyneman

Police are seeking help after a train passenger received racial abuse from a group of men on Thursday January 31.

The female victim, who was travelling on the 17:51 Clapham Junction to Shepperton train, was the subject of derogatory and abusive language from several men.

The men are described as being between 40-50 years old and were also accompanied by two large dogs.

Police have said they are looking into CCTV footage but would appreciate any extra information from local people.

Detective Sergeant Tony Burman, who is leading the investigation, said: “The victim has been left very upset by what took place and I am now appealing for anyone to come forward with information that may help with our investigation.

“We do not tolerate this kind of behaviour on the rail network and take reports of racial abuse extremely seriously. I’d urge anyone who has any information about the incident to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 0800 40 50 40, quoting log 526 or 31/01/2013. Alternatively, phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
