Anti-war campaigners to stage Westminster ‘die-in’ to protest against Syria airstrikes

A mass ‘die-in’ is planned outside Parliament tonight by anti-war campaigners in protest against the proposed UK airstrikes in Syria.

The event, organised by the Stop The War coalition, was announced as MPs gathered to debate the government-backed motion to extend the bombing of ISIS targets in Iraq.

Organisers hope hundreds will attend to show their opposition from 6pm.

Wandsworth supporter Colin Crilly, 46, said: “The onus is on the leader to prove the case for war and I don’t think David Cameron has done that.

“Before 2003 we were told that if we bomb Iraq it will make our streets safer.

“History suggests that’s not the case – when are we going to learn?”

The die-in follows a similar Parliament Square protest on Tuesday night which, according to organisers, was attended by around 5000 people.
