A London-based community group is transforming the social and community scene for those who are immunocompromised.
Breathe Easy London are a group of seven immunocompromised and Covid-conscious Londoners who want to create spaces for community members to socialise safety.
Events hosted by the group are 100% accessible as well as being pay-what-you-can.
As Covid precautions have largely decreased since the pandemic, Breathe Easy are organising safe monthly socials which range from arts and crafts, games, music and much more.
Lead organiser Greta Mauch said: “I’ve become a firm believer that you cannot love anyone until you love everyone.
“If someone is willing to mask to protect me, but not the stranger with my same respecters, that means that respect is conditional.
“Masking is how I find people that practice unconditional respect and love, and I’ve come to believe that public safety means unconditional respect.”
One attendee, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I’m a long COVID sufferer and I’ve had some really difficult conversations with some of my friends.
“I’ve got quite angry and really had to put my foot down when they’re patronising me and suggesting that I’m overreacting for wearing a mask.
“Everyone in this room has been through an experience like that, being gaslit.
“It’s tough, it’s really tough.
“It changes how you see those people in your life.”
