Five magical London Christmas markets to visit this winter

Take a look at the five best London Christmas markets you need to visit this winter to get into the festive spirit. 

Winter Wonderland Hyde Park

By far the most extravagant of the Christmas markets in London, people will travel the seas this winter to visit the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland phenomena.

Alongside its cosy and creative markets packed with festive food stalls, the park hosts the UK’s largest outdoor ice rink, roller coasters to make your tummy turn, and a huge spinning wheel providing views from all across the city.

The extravaganza will be open from 19 November until 2 January and really is an event not to be missed. 

The entrance fee varies depending on the time of day you’re planning to visit, peak time is £7.50 but off peak is totally free.

Covent Garden

A more traditional market and a staple of London Christmas history, thousands will flock to Covent Garden this winter to take festive photos.

It is home to three annual markets filled with handmade crafts and treats, and visitors will even be sprinkled with a flourish of (fake) snow on the hour from 12pm until 7pm. 

The market is now open and closes 3 January.

Southbank Centre Winter market

Every winter you can take a wintery walk along the Thames under magical lights, whilst sampling the most festive food and drinks, and this year is no different. 

The Southbank winter market is brimming with festive treats including pop-up bars and stalls, it’s definitely one for the foodies to try!

You can find giant heated riverside snowglobes, an alpine-themed pop-up Curling Club and endless amounts of cider and mulled wine. 

You can find the market until 8 January.

Trafalgar Square Christmas market

With over 20 stalls available to browse at one of the most famous London locations, you can choose from a range of hand-crafted goods. 

You can also treat yourself to a selection of warm festive food from mini pancakes, chocolate fountains, cheesy chips or head over to the bar for some mulled wine and cider.

With the famous Trafalgar Christmas tree centre stage, you can listen to carol singers perform whilst getting into the festive spirit. 

The market opens today and will run until 2 January.

Leicester Square

An annual Christmas market that blesses arguably the busiest square in London every year.

You can browse the traditional market filled with chocolate in every direction, sparkling lights and of course Christmas trees. 

Be in the centre of the hustle and bustle whilst treating yourself to the most quintessentially British treats. 

The market runs until 8 January.
