Singer-songwriter Emily Saunders is set to take the stage at The Exchange on Saturday June, 7 to celebrate the release of her new album MOON SHIFTS OCEANS.
The album is the Brixton-native sophomore album and looks to establish her as a breakout star this year.
“It’s my most powerful work to date because it’s a celebration of how we can all get through tough times in our lives and emerge stronger,” said Emily.
Emily is no stranger to adversity and cites her difficult family dynamic in her teens as one of her inspirations, as she left home at 16 and lived in a hostel for three years.
“Those difficult years spurred me on creatively, and music became my safe space, where I transformed adversity to a deeper understanding of the positive impact sound has on turbulent times. This has been my driving force ever since,” said Emily.
In 2017, again the talented singer had to dig deep when she was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis (the same condition Kim Kardashian suffers from), which left her unable to walk, in pain, and isolated.
“It would be easy to ask: Why me? Why now? But it taught me to push through even when everything around me felt like it was closing in,” said Emily, who recovered with the help of nutrition and exercise.
Her new album MOON SHIFTS OCEANS looks to showcase to her audience that there is strength to be gained for testing times and an element of beauty that can arise from small things.

Emily says she chose the album name to signify that small things can create great change.
Expect jaw-dropping vocals and bold music production, blending soul-jazz-fusion and pop with echoes of Brazilian grooves and broken beats.
Her upbeat, soul-infused music blends smoky vocals with jazz-fusion and folk-pop sensuality.
Having recently sold out London’s most iconic jazz venue, The Jazz Cafe, and Liverpool’s state-of-the-art concert hall, The Tung Auditorium, Emily has now set her sights on enchanting The Exchange audience.
“Twickenham has such a creative and artistic atmosphere, and a wonderfully warm and supportive audience,” says Emily, a keen champion of the Twickenham music scene.
“Twickenham has such a long and rich relationship with the arts that sharing my music in such vibrant area moments from home is an absolute pleasure,” says Emily, who will be staying on after her show to mingle and thank everyone for their support.
