REVIEW: Lucky Daye Making mo waves with his new album Candy Drip

This is a delightful eclectic look at R  ‘n B and the forever emotions that take play whilst falling in love.

Lucky Daye has become the epitome of the genre with lusty lyrics and soulful tones.

With standout singles like ‘Over’, he has taken TikTok by storm. The song is a beautiful telling of someone trying to escape the clutches of a love that isn’t good for them and how the gravitational pull of people can take you right back to them.

As sampling is growing even more popular now Lucky nods to Musiq Soulchild’s ‘Half Crazy’ to irresistible impact using the melodic sound to deal with similar subject matter.

‘Used to be’ is also a stand out on the album; the use of orchestral instruments swelling throughout the song is divine.

His ability to story tell and showcase such vocal range is flawless. The album also contains some big features including artist Lil Durk, Chiiild and Smino adding versus to the record.

Lucky’s sophomore album is a nuanced piece of new age R ‘n B with all the elements that we all adore about the earlier years.
