REVIEW: An unpopular opinion of Mamma Mia

One of my unpopular opinions in life may be that I prefer Mamma Mia 2 to the first one.

Another crazy confession I have is I watched number two before I even saw the first one, I’m wild I know.

I love the idea of most of the film being a flashback, I love the cinematography, obsessed with every character. No other film brings me as much pure joy. It feels like summertime with every watch.

Obviously Abbas’ music is insane in the first film also and it’s the original story, but to me the backstory was needed and my favourite Abba songs are in the second film.

Lily James brings a great background to Donna and we see her originally meeting the three dads.

It’s great to see a young version of them and it brings depth to the original story.

If you are the kind of person that says Pierce Brosnan’s or Colin Firth’s vocals or dance moves are questionable I can’t be around you, the whole point in the film is they are normal dads – not professional performers. Surely it would be more unrealistic if they came out with A* vocals, they add so much fun to the film and I wouldn’t have them any other way.
