Brazilian gay romantic drama tipped for Oscar glory ‘comes out’ at Clapham Picturehouse

Hot on the heels of its UK premiere, Clapham Picturehouse and ‘OUT at Clapham’ present a special showing of award-winning Brazilian romantic drama The Way He Looks with a Q&A with director Daniel Ribeiro on October 14.

The Way He Looks is set to wow audiences and critics alike and is already tipped for best foreign language film at next year’s Oscars after a successful premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.

This month’s edition of ‘OUT in Clapham’ brings up-and-coming Brazilian director and writer Daniel Ribeiro to a British audience.

Daniel has won numerous awards for his short films, The Way He Looks is his first feature-length outing on the silver screen.

The film tells the story of Leonardo, a blind teenager, as he struggles with new friendships and rivalries in this gripping coming-of-age romantic drama.

Leonardo’s story has already gained critical acclaim since its showing at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Berlinale Teddy Award and came second for the Panorama Audience Award for Best Feature.

Daniel Ribeiro will be present to take question from the audience at this special screening before the film’s nationwide release in November.
