Glide at Battersea Power Station: London’s festive ice rink returns

Whether as a date night or activity with friends, Glide ice rink has every box ticked with a grand return for it’s second year at Battersea Power Station.

As glossy as the newly built shopping mall, the ice at Glide made for a great skating experience and an inevitable laugh – for those who struggle to balance.

The warm and festive decorations made the cold beneath your feet disappear.

The rink is beautifully lit by coloured hues, a central Christmas tree and above all, the iconic Battersea skyline.

Skating alongside a view like this certainly adds that extra touch of romance as the specs of light give depth to the rink’s backdrop.

From the moment you arrive under the foliage decorated archways, it feels like you have stepped into a little wonderland.

The smaller details made a big difference, with skating heroes helping in seconds of a fall and penguins being available for children.

At no point did the rink feel overcrowded, although leaving a few minutes before the session ends is smart if you want to avoid waiting for your shoes – going to the toilet before putting on your skates is a good idea too.

This is a lovely Christmas experience, the music is well picked and the atmosphere makes for a perfect start to December.

After your skate you can head to The Glass House Bar for a refreshing drink and hard earned snack. It’s a cosy spot with reasonably priced treats including hot chocolate and mulled wine.

Tickets start from £12.50 but be quick as weekend sessions are selling fast!
