Cut-throat razors and machetes seized by Kensington and Chelsea police as Met battle knife crime

A massive haul of knives and dangerous weapons were seized by Kensington and Chelsea Proactive Unit yesterday.

Twelve disguised stun guns, batons and martial arts weapons as well as a ‘significant’ amount of knives were discovered at two addresses were searched by police.

Machetes, flick knives and dangerous combat knives were also found by officers in the haul of 62 knives that were recovered from the boot of a car.

Detective Chief Superintendent Dean Haydon, head of Trident Gang Crime Command which promises to tackle knife crime on London’s streets, said: “Tackling knife crime is a key priority for the Met.

“Every week, officers from across London carry out enforcement activity, and educational programmes aimed at prevention are regularly delivered to young people.

“The people of London can expect to see lots of coordinated and intelligence-led police activity over the coming week. We will be carrying out a variety of operations including weapon sweeps and stop and search; as well as targeting known offenders.”

Police also found stun guns disguised as key fobs, mobile phones and torches as well as cut-throat razors that were destined for criminal gangs.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police on suspicion of possession of firearms and offensive weapons and remains in custody at a west London police station.
