Battersea Dogs & Cats Home staff hope for a St Patrick’s Day happy ending for unlucky residents

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s four unluckiest residents are hoping the luck of the Irish will change their paw-tunes this St Patrick’s Day.

The centre’s manager Robert Young is hopeful south west London residents will be the pot of gold for the unlucky four.

He said: “There are some animals who come into Battersea whose stories really tug on your heartstrings.

“Like poor Beauty, who’s been here twice through no fault of her own and Tiger the cat who went through a terrible time as a stray.

“But here at Battersea we look to change the animal’s fortunes for the better, so we’re hoping we can help our four unluckiest animals find their perfect family.”

People-lover Paddy is looking for a fresh start after a lonely life as a stray and 11-year-old Tiger is looking for a warm home to spend his twilight years after being abandoned by his owners.

Jenson is a veteran of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and has been without a home for three months but staff say the lively Jack Russell could be the perfect pet for an active family with his energy and clever tricks.

There is also Beauty — a gallant Greyhound competed in 110 races in her career but is still searching for the perfect home to spend her retirement.

In 2016 the centre, which announced HRH The Duchess of Cornwall as its new patron last month, cared for over 7000 dogs and cats so the need for happy homes is as pressing as ever.
