Hunger Games star sells out West End return

A leading star in one of The Hunger Games movies is set to return to the West End next year.

Rachel Zegler, best known for her role in The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, will play a short residency on London’s West End from 5 to 17 January 2027.

She will perform her first ever concert residency, Rachel Zegler – Live in London, at Soho Place Theatre.

Tickets for the concert sold out within a matter of hours, highlighting Zegler’s London popularity.

Leah Ratcliffe, fandom expert and lecturer in Creative Industries at University College Birmingham, said: “When fans buy a ticket to an event like this, they are not just buying the two or so hours of entertainment, they are also participating in community and showcasing their passions.

“Rachel’s success demonstrates how performers can bring audiences from a range of fandoms with them across projects and continue to build communities.”

The 25-year-old is best known to Londoners for playing Eva Peròn in Jamie Lloyd’s revival of Evita at the London Palladium last summer, for which she won an Olivier Award.

Her performances of the famous number Don’t Cry for Me Argentina on the Palladium’s balcony went viral on social media, with huge crowds on Argyll Street nightly to hear her.

The Soho Place Theatre is known for its intimacy, with no viewer further than six rows away from the stage.

Jamie Lambert, CEO of Lambert Jackson, said: “Being able to bring Rachel back to London, the city that showed her so much love during Evita, her solo shows and The Last Five Years, is a wonderful next step in our partnership.

“This residency demonstrates the extraordinary connection she has built with audiences.”

Lambert Jackson, the residency’s commercial producers, were named in the Stage 100’s top ten for their influential production work in 2025.

The American-born star sold out her debut solo concert at the London Palladium in 2025, and co-starred with Ben Platt in the concert version of The Last Five Years in 2026.

Zegler told her 2.5million Instagram followers: “So excited to announce my first ever concert residency this January.

“Gotta start working on the setlist now! Bye!”

The decorated singer won a Golden Globe for her performance as María in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 adaptation of West Side Story, and played the titular character in Disney’s 2025 Snow White.

Zegler was at the centre of controversy last year when, during filming for Snow White, she clashed with co-star Gal Gadot.

She openly voiced pro-Palestine views on social media, while Gadot has publicly supported Israel, having formerly served in the Israeli Defence Force (IDF).

Jonah Platt, son of Snow White producer Marc Platt, blamed Zegler’s political outspokenness for the movie’s poor performance at box office.

Platt said: “[she was] dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for.”

Zegler will return to her role in Jamie Lloyd’s Evita on Broadway next February, with many shows already sold out.
