April Fool’s Day: UK brands and retailers announce new spoof products

Some of the biggest brands and retailers across the country have embraced the annual foolery this April 1, announcing a range of spoof products to trick customers.

Tesco: giant boiled egg

Tesco has revealed their new ‘Giant Boiled Egg’ for those who are looking for an alternative to chocolate this Easter.

A spokesperson for Tesco said: “What could be better than a Tesco Protein Egg Pot? How about an eggstra large, hard-boiled egg that hits all your protein goals in one! We just know customers will think it’s cracking.”

Asda: adult-sized trolley seats

Asda has unveiled new adult-sized trolly seats in an effort to tackle ‘co-shopping’ chaos after research revealed that 73% of people confessed to losing their shopping partners in the aisles.

The new design features a comfortable armchair with a cup holder for drinks, as well as a built-in phone holder so the passenger can scroll hands free.

Babybel: the ‘Choccybel’

Babybel has revealed a new ‘limited edition’ version of their famous cheese snack known as the Choccybel, which replaces the signature red wax with a chocolate truffle exterior.

The Choccybel has been in development for 18 months and was made in collaboration with multi-award winning confectionery brand Monty Bojangles.

Boots Opticians: windscreen wiper lenses

Boots Opticians has launched glasses with special lenses that’ll actively react to the unpredictable British weather – featuring windscreen wipers for the rain.
